5 Thoughtful Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

April 16, 2018

Sentimental gifts mean the most to me especially when received from Jim or the kids. The first time Reese wrote Mom & Dad I cried (yes I’m that kind of Momma). As amazing as store bought gifts are, there is something so special about something made with love, especially from your husband or children. This Mother’s Day I’ve rounded up 5 thoughtful gift ideas any Mother, Grandmother, Sister, or Sister-in-Law will love. These five ideas start at $17 and Dad can easily pull off just share this post with him today so he can get started!

  1. Custom Handwritten Necklace

When my mother-in-law passed away my sister-in-law had a necklace made with her signature on it. Such an incredibly special way to memorialize those close to use and keep them near t0 our hearts. I have a framed love letter from my Grandma to me next to our kitchen sink. Every day when I do dishes I look at it. Just seeing her handwriting spurs so many memories, and is a constant reminder she’s with me. To create the necklace, just scan and send your hand-written message to Kate at CaitlynMinimalist.  Your little ones could write their names, ‘Momma’,  or something as simple as the word LOVE. Just a heads up once you place your order allow 7-10 days to receive. Kate is offering 25% off now, and her necklaces start at $26.

2. Ready to print modern genealogy print

When we had the Twins I was looking for something meaningful to put in their nursery that paid homage to our family history and what Jim and I created together. I found Kimmy from I Chart You and we became fast friends. The neat thing about this project was I got to talk with Jim’s side of the family (his aunts, and Dad’s cousin) to trace back their genealogy . It was interesting to  learn more about his family history.

Now the print is proudly displayed in our playroom. To order:

1) Select your desired print, choosing “Individual’s” or “Couple’s” format, and place your order.

2) We will send a confirmation email pointing you to our simple to use
i-chart-you genealogy form. Once you have your family names ready you enter them into the form and specify what size you want your chart.

3) Within 3-5 business days we will send ready-to-print file at the dimensions you specify. Print it, hang it, and you’re done!

*NOTE: you do not have to have your family names ready to place your order.Kimmy has generously offered to give all my followers 30% OFF from now until Mother’s Day. Just use code DC30 when placing your order!

3. Children’s Artwork Picture Display

I love this idea for two reasons. 1) It’s not expensive you can get everything for under $20 2) It’s something the whole family can enjoy while simultaneously getting you organized.

You’ll need to purchases IKEAS Dignitet Curtain Wire for $14.99 and corresponding Riktig Curtain Hooks for $2.99 for a pack of 25. Hang in a place you’d like to display your children’s artwork. Bedroom, playroom, basement, mudroom, hallway or kitchen. We painted one wall a chalkboard wall in our playroom and then hung two rows of IKEAS Dignitet Curtain Wire. When the Twins bring home their artwork from school we display it. When it’s time to rotate in new artwork, we take a picture of what they created and later use ARTKIVE to create a book. That way your future Picasso doesn’t get upset when it’s time to get rid of their masterpiece and you don’t have any Mom guilt.

Framebridge has generously offered to give my followers 15% off. Just use code DOREENCORRIGAN15 for 15% off your order!

5. Chatbooks

Last but not least Chatbooks. Allows you to seamlessly create a photobook from your Facebook or Instagram photos in 30 seconds! Just download the app, link up your accounts and create a book. Such a great gift from a Dad for Mother’s Day. Jim always gets the most unique pictures so it’s fun to see a different perspective, especially Dad’s!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Doreen
