Monday Must Have: Jumpsuit and Straw Beach Bag

August 1, 2016

It’s Monday morning and I’m feeling good! The caffeine is definitely kicking in and I’m ready for a productive day of running errands. I had such a refreshing Mom weekend away with my college girls. I literally laughed so hard my cheeks hurt, we had an absolute blast rehashing all our college days. Of the many memories discussed, we particularly enjoyed remembering the style choices of our younger selves. Suffice to say, we were all glad that we’ve since retired the hot pink pants and scarf tops and our tastes have become, let’s say, a little more refined.

My Monday Must Have is inspired by my weekend vacation – a trendy jumpsuit and straw beach bag. Short or long you can LIVE in jumpsuits all day, and they can be dressed up or down for any occasion. Every girl should be so lucky as to have a wardrobe stocked with several. This jumpsuit is Robin Piccone – it’s the most comfortable fabric ever, it feels like butter on your skin. I’ve actually thought about sleeping in it, that’s how comfortable it is. You can easily transition into fall with it by adding a cute jean jacket or lightweight coat.

At the beginning of the summer I did a ton of research on straw bags/farmers market totes to find the perfect beach bag. I fell in love with the painted straw beach bag look, but was disappointed because most of the bags were well over $100, and I just didn’t want to pay that much for a beach/pool bag to carry our sunscreen & toys. After much research I found the PERFECT bag including super cute colorful tassels from Target.  It’s only sold in stores but is still available!!

I decided to do a little DIY and create my own painted straw beach bag and I LOVE how it turned out. I painted it at the beginning of May and it has held up all summer with daily trips to the pool and beach, and several flights! Come back tomorrow to check out the complete DIY tutorial on the blog.

Happy National Girlfriends Day, Friends!!

XO,

Doreen
